□About insulation and non-insulation
Panel mounting type RCA pin jacks, φ3.5 jacks, etc. are divided into "insulated type" and "non-insulated type". Insulated or non-insulated refers to whether or not the connector's GND terminal contacts the panel when the connector is installed on the panel.
- For insulated type connectors, the GND terminal of the connector does not connect (contact) with the panel.
・For non-insulated types, if the panel is made of metal, it will be electrically connected.
Insulated connectors are used when you do not want to create a "GND (ground) loop."
*What is a GND loop?
Because the wiring is in a loop, the loop of the GND wire is called a "GND loop." When the magnetic flux interlinks with the loop, a current flows in the GND wire, which creates a voltage that becomes noise. In such cases, cutting the loop can prevent noise due to magnetic flux linkage.
