The ultimate analog delay born from the fusion of the latest technology and analog technology
The DM-101 Delay Machine is the ultimate analog delay born from the fusion of the latest technology and accumulated know-how. By adopting a full analog circuit, it realizes a delay sound that is warm and enveloping. By controlling the circuit with a CPU, it produces 12 diverse sounds.
It also has many functions essential for modern guitarists, such as tap tempo, carryover, stereo output, 127 memories, and MIDI control.
The ultimate analog delay machine
The DM-101 Delay Machine is the ultimate analog delay born from the fusion of BOSS technology and accumulated know-how.
By adopting a full analog circuit, it realizes a delay sound that is warm and enveloping. By controlling the circuit with a CPU, it produces 12 diverse sounds. In addition, it has many functions essential for modern guitarists, such as tap tempo, carryover, stereo output, 127 memories, and MIDI control.

12 types of analog delay
Analog delays, which appeared in the 1970s, are effects that repeatedly play the input sound like an echo by utilizing an electronic component called a BBD. The delay sound produced by the full analog circuit has a suppressed high range and a slight distortion that warmly envelops the player. The DM-101 has 12 different modes, allowing you to create a wide range of sounds, from classic analog delays to rhythmic and unique types. Of course, if you set the INTENSITY to a certain level or higher, you can get wild oscillations with the sound character of each mode.
For the same delay time, the fewer the number of BBDs used, the more saturated the delay sound will be, and the more they are used, the more extended the high frequencies will be. The DM-101 combines eight BBDs and precisely tuned peripheral circuits to successfully optimize the sound quality of the delay sound for each of the 12 modes. It achieves a highly versatile analog delay sound that is carefully crafted.
The DM-101 is a delay machine that digitally controls a fully analog-designed delay circuit at a high level. Depending on the mode, the CPU controls the number of BBDs used, their connection method, filter type, clock frequency, and feedback path. It produces a variety of sound characters, such as BOSS's iconic warm and saturated VINTAGE mode and MODERN mode with more high-frequency clarity.
The DM-101 can switch the BBD connection method from series to parallel, or send different clock signals to each BBD, providing a variety of stereo sounds despite being an analog delay. For example, in PAN mode, you can give the BBDs different delay times to create delay sounds that alternate between left and right, and in DUAL MOD mode, you can shift the phase of the modulation for each left and right to create a spacious sound. Of course, it also supports separate output of direct sound and effect sound. It also has a direct mute function, so it can be used as an external effect for a PA mixer.
The DM-101 is an analog delay, but it also has the high versatility required by modern guitarists. The delay time can be instantly set to match the song you are playing using the tap tempo function*1. The tap division can also be switched with a single button, making it easy to create rhythmic delays. It also supports control expansion, allowing you to add foot switches and expression pedals, and control it with external MIDI devices. You can recall up to four sounds you create with the foot switches on the unit, or up to 127 sounds via MIDI control. It also supports a carryover function, which allows you to keep the delay sound even when the effect is turned off.
