Brand Introduction Hamilton was established in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. The brand gained fame for developing its first pocket watch, the Broadway Limited, which was a tool for telling accurate railroad time. In 1914, it was selected as a supplier for the American military, and by 1919 it provided timekeeping for ski competitions and services for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1930, it became the official watch for many airlines. During World War II, in 1947, Hamilton manufactured nearly one million military watches. In 1970, it introduced the world's first digital watch, Pulsure, and was acquired in 1977 by the SSIH group (Omega-Tissot-Lanco). It became part of SMH in 1983 and is now a brand under the Swatch Group.
